“One thing Congress has no shortage of is investigations into what happened before, during and after the Benghazi attacks” – former press secretary Jay Carney he claimed. However, up-to-date Washington Post-ABC News poll It turned out that not everyone agreed with this.
The Americans actually believe there is a need to investigate the attack more deeply.
Carney has repeatedly claimed that Republicans are wreaking unnecessary havoc around Benghazi. Days after House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) announced a select committee to investigate Benghazi, Carney described the effort as politicization of tragedy: :
Since 2012, the matter has been handled by seven separate congressional inquiries, including the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, the House Armed Services Committee, the House and Senate Intelligence Committees, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and the Senate Services Committee. Men-at-arms. All told, this investigation involved 13 hearings, 50 member and staff briefings, and over 25,000 pages of documents… The facts of yesterday are the facts of today and will remain facts no matter how often or how long Republicans engage in highly partisan efforts to the politicization of what was a tragedy – a tragedy that resulted in the deaths of four Americans, brave Americans serving overseas, representing the United States of America.
However, the poll also revealed that 58 percent of Americans surveyed are very skeptical of the Obama administration’s honesty in investigations. Most believe that the facts were swept under the rug for the convenience of the administration.
The scandals in the Obama administration were unnecessary this year. Contesting an issue as critical as Benghazi is not just a GOP strategy; this is the government’s responsibility. It is not surprising, however, that the Obama administration is irritated by the thoroughness of the investigation, although it appears that accountability is not a tolerated practice.
