Republican legislators from Ohio introduced a bill on the elimination of mental health resources without parental consent for teenagers experiencing the crisis associated with “gender -related state”.
House Bill (HB) 172 -Plted on March 12, he would have an exception as part of the ban on sex. Exception Currently enables access to the age of youth aged 14-17:
- Outpatient services from a mental health specialist without parental consent, if there is a “significant probability of damage to minors or other people.”
- No more than six sessions or 30 days of the above services, depending on what will happen before.
The exception was present in the Code changed in Ohio since 1989.
HB 172 is sponsored by the representative of Jonathan Newman (R-Troy), the first period legislator and “A” A “Pastor Entrepreneur“Which serves as a pastor of counseling in Megachurch in West Ohio and has the degrees of theology from institutions in which identification as LGBTQ+ Basics to be removed.
Rep. Newman did not respond to many demands – telephone calls, E -Maili and website sending forms – to comment on the regulations.
Ohio mental experts say that the need to provide these specific outpatient services without parental consent is occasional, but is crucial.
Liam Strausbaugh, the Association of Practices from the National Association of Social Workers (Ohio Chapter), said that these sessions are usually provided only if there is an immediate threat to safety and parents cannot be achieved or when a minor is looking for support in crisis and there is concerns about safety regarding the safety of parents’ response.
“These handfuls of sessions are really used to help process the event, experience or think that the teenager wrapped their mind around a certain situation before he brought them to his parents,” said Strusbough. “These are usually quite unique and usually critical circumstances.”
Despite their rarity, Strausburgh emphasized that these six sessions still serve the necessary clinical support service for teenagers from Ohio.
“The elimination of these sessions will leave many teenagers in the country without access to the necessary mental health services that they may need when they need them the most,” said Strausburgh.

Rep. Karen Brownlee (D-Symmes Twp.) That’s right. The first legislator is a clinical social worker whose work focused on improving the results of mental health for children, teenagers and families.
In many years of practice in the school environment, she said that she never provided mental health services to minors without parental consent.
“This exception is used only in a real crisis,” said Brownlee. “This is not a finger hit [teen] Sad. This is an immediate crisis in which there is a physical, acute danger. “
From her perspective of the selected official Brownlee, she said that HB 172 is a “dispersion”, which is “legislation from Kazczyn with tyurova against young people” in a way that will not force them to stay in Ohio.
“30% gene with LGBTQ+Brownlee said. “If Ohio is in the face of a shortage of workplace, why are we terrifying newborn people before staying?” Ding
