According to the latest data provided by Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the number of Chinese nationals illegally entering the United States is increasing rapidly.
A record 27,583 Chinese nationals illegally entered the United States in the last seven months of fiscal year 2024. According to to CBP. In fiscal year 2023, 24,125 Chinese nationals crossed the border illegally, up from 1,987 who entered China illegally in fiscal year 2022.
Only 342 Chinese nationals entered the United States illegally in fiscal year 2021, meaning illegal immigration to the U.S. from China has increased by nearly 8,000% since then, according to CBP data.
According to the data, the huge majority of encounters – 27,135 – took place exclusively in the San Diego sector. The recent shift of illegal immigration to the western side of the U.S.-Mexico border is a consequence of law enforcement hearing taken by Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbot.
The up-to-date numbers come after Republican lawmakers sounded the alarm over the threat posed by an influx of illegal immigrants from China and the revelation that the Biden administration had relaxed the process for vetting them.
An internal CBP email shows the Biden White House oversimplified the vetting process for Chinese illegal immigrants in April 2023. obtained by Daily Caller News Foundation. The email, which a supervisor sent to a “master list” of about 500 Border Patrol agents, instructed CBP officials to reduce the number of interview questions asked of Chinese immigrants after entering the U.S. illegally from about 40 to just five.
The Republican-led House Homeland Security Subcommittee will take up the matter to hold a hearing will be held on Thursday to examine the factors behind the historic boost in illegal immigration to China. The subcommittee’s chairman, North Carolina Republican Dan Bishop, told DCNF that “a wide open border represents a ripe opportunity for [Chinese Communist Party] undermine our national security.”
“This dramatic increase requires close scrutiny, especially since Border Patrol agents have been instructed to limit screening of Chinese nationals to get them into the country more quickly,” Bishop said. “As [Chinese Communist Party] continues its quest for geopolitical dominance and threatens our sovereignty, we must examine the risks posed by allowing more and more minimally vetted Chinese nationals into our communities.”
The Heritage Foundation published reportt detailing how Chinese-owned entities are increasingly purchasing real estate across the country, putting critical U.S. infrastructure at potential risk. The report shows that Chinese-owned agricultural acreage more than quintupled between 2011 and 2021, and since 2010, Chinese entities have spent more than $100 billion acquiring American companies.
