Trump picks former Insurance and Housing Chairman Sean Duffy as Transportation Secretary

President-elect Donald Trump announced Monday that Fox Business host and former Wisconsin Republican Sean Duffy will be his pick for U.S. Secretary of Transportation.

Duffy, who contributed to Fox News and co-hosted “The Bottom Line” on Fox Business, served in the House of Representatives for nine years before moving into media. Trump turned to Truth Social to release a statement on Duffy’s selection, stating that “he will prioritize excellence, competence, competitiveness and beauty as we rebuild America’s highways, tunnels, bridges and airports.”

“Sean was an excellent and popular public servant, who began his career as District Attorney in Ashland, Wisconsin, and was later elected to the United States House of Representatives in Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District,” Trump wrote. “It will ensure that our ports and dams serve our economy without jeopardizing our national security, and it will make our skies safe again by eliminating DEI for pilots and air traffic controllers.”

“Sean will leverage his experience and the relationships he has built over many years in Congress to maintain and rebuild our nation’s infrastructure and fulfill our mission to usher in a Golden Age of Travel with a focus on safety, efficiency and innovation. Importantly, it will significantly elevate the travel experience for all Americans!”

Duffy served in Congress from 2011 to 2019, representing residents of Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District, the state’s largest district. During his time in office, the former representative served on numerous committees, serving as a member of the House Financial Services Committee, chairman of the Subcommittee on Insurance and Housing, and chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.

The Fox Business co-host also served as district attorney in Ashland County, Wisconsin, devoting his time and resources to fighting child sex crimes, According to to Fox News. During this time, Duffy began working with law enforcement, which ultimately led to Ashland County becoming one of the first counties in Wisconsin to investigate and prosecute online child sex crimes, according to the website.

Duffy is married to “FOX & Friends Weekend” co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy. They have nine children together and co-authored a book in 2021.
