Brendan Carr, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to chair the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), has vowed to end the agency’s promotion of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies within his agency.
“The FCC’s latest budget request states that promoting DEI is the agency’s second most essential strategic goal. Starting next year, the FCC will end promotion of DEI,” Carr said.
Carr, now the top Republican on the FCC, also promised to dismantle the “censorship cartel” that includes huge tech companies like Google and Apple.
“We must crack down on the censorship cartel and restore free speech rights to ordinary Americans,” he wrote in X.
“Commissioner Carr is a warrior for free speech and has fought against laws that stifle Americans’ freedoms and drag down our economy,” Trump said. “End the regulatory assault that is crippling America’s job creators and innovators, and ensure the FCC works for rural America.”
