Ohio Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown maintains a slim lead, beating his Republican opponent Bernie Moreno nearly four to one in one of the most pricey Senate races this cycle.
Ohio’s Senate race is currently the most pricey in the country at $425,802,726, including outside expenses. According to to OpenSecrets data. Brown currently leads by 1 percentage point, 47.4% to Moreno’s 46.4%, According to to polling averages by RealClear Polling.
Brown’s campaign spent significantly more than his Republican challenger this election cycle, spending $86,050,236 compared to Moreno’s $21,310,662. According to according to OpenSecrets data published on October 16. Moreno’s (pictured above, right) outside spending totaled $153,978,150 as of Oct. 16, compared to Brown’s $136,808,157 in outside spending, according to OpenSecrets.
The Ohio Democrat recently started regression his past support for some of President Joe Biden’s Green New Deal policies. Brown was also one of several Democratic lawmakers call for Biden to withdraw from the presidential race before Biden he withdrew and on July 21, endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris.
Former President Donald Trump won Ohio with a 51% majority in the 2016 election, According to to News 5 Cleveland. According to News 5 Cleveland, Trump increased his margin of victory in 2020 when 53% of Ohio voters cast a ballot for the presidential candidate.
Trump leads Ohio by 6.9 percentage points, 51.3% to Harris’ 44.4%. According to to polling averages with RealClear Polling.
