The Democrat touts his appearances on Fox News in a new campaign ad

Ohio is no longer considered the swing state it once was, and has now become redder, which means Democrats in the Buckeye State must campaign differently.

Democrat Tim Ryan, who is running for U.S. Senate against Republican J.D. Vance, is highlighting his appearances on Fox News in a new campaign ad titled “Fox News Friends.”

In a 30-second spot that will air on Fox News this week, some of the network’s biggest names praise the congressman for being “tough on China,” more moderate compared to other Democrats, and advocating for border security.

“Even the most conservative voices on television agree: Tim Ryan is a voice of common-sense politics who focuses on the issues most important to Ohioans,” Ryan’s spokeswoman, Izzi Levy, said in a statement about the ad.

The congressman also posted the clip on Twitter, writing, “You don’t have to take it from me: Even Fox News will tell you I will always put Ohio first.”

The ad comes just after Ryan and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Nan Whaley left Biden’s event in Cleveland. A Democratic spokesman said he had “a full day for pre-planned campaign events along the Ohio River.”

When White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked about Ryan’s absence, she could only say she was in “close contact” with the lawmaker before naming other Democrats present at the event with Biden.

“I just made a long list of other elected officials who will accompany him on this trip,” she said. – So I guess that counts too.
