Congressman Warren Davidson, D-Ohio, says the House GOP must unite around the plan if it maintains a majority in the House after the election.
On Wednesday, the House voted to approve a short-lived pause in government funding for three months avoid a government shutdown.
Eighty-two Republicans voted against continuing the resolution, with many arguing that these repeated resolutions did not ensure responsible funding of the government.
“None of us really believe this is what we came here for,” he added. Davidson said. “It may seem necessary. We have no better options. There is a lot of frustration. But ultimately we must unite around a plan.”
Davidson said the House needs to develop a plan and then find a leader who can achieve that goal.
“I think that’s where we landed after Kevin McCarthy was ousted,” he said. “Everyone just rallied around Mike Johnson because he’s someone that everyone likes. But we are not yet united around a plan.”
