Ohio race becomes even tighter as hundreds of uncounted votes are discovered

Ohio election officials found 588 uncounted votes in suburban Columbus on Wednesday, county officials said.

After the votes were counted, Republican Troy Balderson received 198 votes; Democrat Danny O’Connor received 388 votes; and Joe Manchik received 2 votes. This gave O’Connor a 190-vote lead over Balderson, who currently leads by 1,564 votes in a tight race.

“Votes from part of one polling station were not processed into the tabulation system” officials explained“Election night results are tabulated using a device called a master PEB that is returned to the board along with flash drives from each machine. The Griswold Center polling place had two master PEBs, only one of which was read and processed in the tabulation system on election night. Additional votes identified during this preliminary audit will be reflected in the final official results certified by the Board of Elections on August 24.”

While Balderson declared his victory Tuesday evening, O’Connor tweeted celebrating Wednesday’s revelation that he was waiting for all the votes to be counted.

According to Cincinnati EnquirerBy August 24, 3,435 provisional votes and 5,048 postal votes will be counted.
