NY Times Stealth Edits Column Suggesting JD Vance Is a Literal Fascist After Receiving Harsh Criticism

by Nick Pope

New York Times quietly changed the headline of a Saturday column linking Ohio Republican Sen. J.D. Vance to a Nazi slogan.

NOW columnist Jamelle Bouie was the main author of his column column “JD Vance’s Blood and Soil Nationalism Finds Its Purpose,” referring to Nazi slogan suggest that Vance’s comments about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, and other past statements prove the Republican vice presidential candidate is a racist who should resign from office “immediately” to atone for his “ethical transgressions.” Later Saturday, after receiving edged criticism, the Times updated the title of the article was “Shouldn’t J.D. Vance Represent All of Ohio?” and an editor’s note was omitted to highlight the change.

Vance has been threatened with criticism for his rhetoric about Springfielda city of 60,000 that has been struggling to cope with a massive influx of Haitian migrants who have arrived in the country in recent years, especially since former President Donald Trump he said that Haitians in Springfield are eating pets during Tuesday’s debate, some Democrats said the GOP’s focus on the city’s plight is racially motivated, while some Republicans argued that the problems facing the city are a direct result of the Biden-Harris administration’s immigration policies.

“If Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio had a moral compass, an ounce of decency, or faith in anything other than his own ambition and will to power, he would resign his Senate seat effective immediately, leave the presidential race, and retire from public life after a pathetic apology for his ethical lapses,” Bouie’s column begins. “As things stand, Vance has done none of the above, which is why he has continued, as before, to use his position in the United States Senate and on the Republican presidential ticket to spread lies and slander against his constituents in Springfield—the Haitian immigrants who settled there to start a new life.”

Many commenters took to X — formerly Twitter — to criticize the column for linking Vance to a Nazi slogan. Indiana Republican Rep. Jim Banks called song is ‘truly disgusting’ as Donald Trump Jr. he stated That NOW “openly trying to incite violence” against Vance and pointed out that his father’s vice presidential candidate has three children of mixed descent. Alex Brusewitz, a Trump campaign adviser, he called out The NYT retracted the article and apologized to Vance.

Bouie further suggests that bomb threats against Springfield schools and City Hall are the result of the way Vance and other Republicans talk about the city. Bouie also argues that Haitian migrants are actually driving the city’s positive renaissance because they have “filled jobs, bought homes and filled city coffers with property and sales taxes” despite some “growth issues.”

The Daily Caller News Foundation recently visited Springfield to report about the struggles of the city and many of its inhabitants spoke a edged raise in road accidents, a housing crisis and other social and economic problems that have plagued the city since the arrival of the Haitians.

In airy of his rhetoric about the Haitians in Springfield, Vance’s speech at Republican National Convention — in which he spoke of America as an idea, a place and a group of people with a common history and future — takes on up-to-date meaning, according to Bouie.

“For Vance, it’s who they are, where they come from, and what they look like,” Bouie writes, referring to the Haitian migrants who have flooded Springfield. “They don’t belong here, he might say, and therefore they don’t belong. The most Vance can do now to fight this war is use words. It terrifies me to think what might be possible if he also had the power of the state to wield it.”
