Abrams Attacks Brian Kemp For… Reopening Georgia Too Soon During COVID

One of my concerns about this election cycle is that some of the driving forces behind the Republican victory in Virginia in 2021 and the unexpectedly sturdy showing in New Jersey may have faded in voters’ minds. The good news for Republicans is that the modern, top issues that have replaced COVID restrictions and school closures are also favorable to them: inflation and crime. But Tuesday marks the first national referendum on pandemic policy, in retrospect. Republicans have generally sought to reopen state economies and schools in a relatively miniature time frame and minimize mandates as much as possible. Democrats have generally done the opposite, often at the behest of special interests like anti-child teachers unions. The results have been devastating, especially for children. Voters need to have a say, because elections are the only hope for holding accountable some of the people most responsible for the worst anti-science and coercive decisions of the past few years.

But as we move further away from the pandemic, those fears and frustrations are naturally fading. Fortunately, some Democrats seem determined to remind Americans of what they did. For example, Democratic campaigns from Gretchen Whitmer in Michigan to Tim Ryan in Ohio have welcomed Randi Weingarten to the trail in their name. It didn’t work for Terry McAuliffe in Virginia last year, but they’re trying again. The arrogance of welcoming a woman responsible for so much wrong practically screams: we don’t care what you think, and her union’s money is more crucial to us than student achievement. They put everything on one card without shame:

And in Georgia, Stacey Abrams criticized Gov. Brian Kemp — who defeated her four years ago and has lied about since, among other things — for reopening the state too soon. When I first saw this clip circulated yesterday, I assumed it was a 2020 flashback. Not true. It’s brand modern. Check out the 2022 election night graphic in the bottom right corner of the screen. It Just he said this (dressed in orange, by the way, leading to huge football game in her state, pitting the wildly popular Georgia Bulldogs against an opponent dressed in orange):

I can only imagine the Kemp campaign wondering, bewildered, how lucky they are that their opponent ends her message by denigrating law enforcement and volunteers, saying she would like to see Georgia locked down longer. And that last point only serves to remind people, that infamous moment which crystallized her hypocrisy. And she continues to play stupid optical games about COVID:

Abrams is also preliminary blame her probable impending defeat about…manipulating black men or something like that:

Apparently he has some internal polling showing a surprisingly large number of black men in Georgia are voting Republican this year, so of course he has to point fingers at their supposed gullibility. How incredibly patronizing. Here’s one of those black menBy the way:

Former congressman and Atlanta Democrat Kwanza Hall endorses two GOP candidates for Georgia’s top statewide offices in the 2022 midterm elections. On Friday morning, Hall announced his endorsement of Republican candidates Gov. Brian Kemp for re-election and Burt Jones for lieutenant governor. “Over the past four years, I have witnessed Governor Kemp make difficult decisions — some that were not always popular at the time — under unprecedented circumstances,” Hall said in a statement. “While we may not agree on every issue, It is abundantly clear that Brian Kemp is a man of character, a strong leader, and someone Georgians can trust to put them and their interests first.“Earlier this year, Hall was one of the candidates running for the Democratic lieutenant governor. While he came in first in the May primary, Hall lost in a runoff to Charlie Bailey. Democrat Stacey Abrams, who is challenging Kemp for governor, endorsed Bailey over Hall in June.

If Herschel Walker wins outright on Tuesday, instead of going to a runoff (a likely more likely outcome), he will have Stacey Abrams to thank. She is selfish, out of touch, and counterproductive. She is doing her party no favors in her state or anywhere else. In case you missed it, I interviewed both Brian Kemp AND Herschel Walker on my radio show last Friday. I’ll leave you with this update on “Jim Crow” “voter suppression”:
