Well, here’s one GOP candidate to avoid in the Ohio Senate primary

Ohio’s primary election will be held on March 19, but there have been last-minute antics that are both frustrating and unbelievable. Democrats have launched an advertising blitz against Bernie Moreno, the leading candidate in the GOP Senate primary, including Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose and state Sen. Matt Dolan. The situation has escalated ahead of Election Day next week. The tumultuous race to the finish line likely led to Democratic meddling in a race in a state that is no longer reliably Democratic (via NOW):

A group of Democrats is entering Ohio’s Republican Senate primary with a modern TV spot aimed at promoting the conservative credentials of Bernie Moreno, a Cleveland-area businessman endorsed by former President Donald J. Trump.

The spot criticizes Moreno as ultra-conservative and too allied with Trump. But if the ad airs in the final week of the primary, the criticism will likely be viewed by GOP primary voters as a badge of honor, a tactic Democrats have used in other races in recent years.

The group, called Duty and Country, is spending about $2.7 million on the ad, which is expected to run statewide, according to AdImpact, an ad tracking company.

The group is funded primarily by the Senate Majority PAC, the main super PAC supporting Democrats’ efforts to maintain control of the chamber.

Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown was elected during the 2006 blue wave. Since then, the Buckeye State has become solid Trump country. In a state like Arizona, supporting a Trump-backed candidate to win the general election more easily may be a risky endeavor worth taking – I’m not sure about Ohio, where the former president won easily in 2016 and 2020. Plus, I don’t think it’s make sure Moreno is up for it or someone who behaves like some candidates in the West, amusing and feisty as he may be.

However, right now the GOP field in Ohio entered the phase of World War IIIwith an absurd slander against Moreno, who became the subject of an embarrassing story about his email address is connected to the venerable adult friend finder from 2008. Meanwhile, if Ohio Republicans want to avoid fooling someone who will keep us in endless war territory, they may want to avoid Mr. Dolan, and we can thank his supporter, the governor of Ohio. Mike DeWine for exposing the entire program regarding the Ohio senator’s views on Ukraine:

So Dolan is like Mitch McConnell on this issue: screw the southern border, but give Ukraine blank checks forever. As immigration becomes a top issue for voters, I’m not sure this is a position any Republican wants to take this cycle. As for the Republican base, despite what Senate Republican leaders have claimed, Ukraine is not a top priority for GOP voters. We want Ukrainian money to stop and be redirected here. It looks like Dolan is another rubber stamp in Biden’s Ukraine quagmire, so if you’re a Buckeye Republican who’s fed up with the Kiev caucus and wants border security, ditch Dolan next week.
