The race for the Ohio Senate seat is tight, as candidates J.D. Vance (R-OH) and Tim Ryan (D-OH) are virtually tied.
According to Emerson College SurveyForty-six percent of Ohio voters say they will vote for Vance, while 45 percent of voters plan to vote for Ryan.
Since last month, Vance’s support has risen by two points and Ryan’s by five points, although the Republican still holds the lead.
Vance’s conservative values resonate with the already red state of Ohio. If elected, he promises to stop funding universities that teach Critical Race Theory and/or Radical Gender Ideology.
His pro-life stance is also a massive green flag with voters. Vance proudly says he is pro-family and pro-more children, which many Ohio voters can accept.
In addition, Vance opposes restricting Americans’ Second Amendment rights. He has promised to oppose those who seek to take away voters’ rights to protect themselves.
Meanwhile, Ryan is known for supporting the LGBTQ community, promoting gender-sensitive care, and exploiting children through sexual content.
He is also a staunch supporter of abortion and condemns the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn it. Roe v. Wade while supporting Planned Parenthood in its efforts to provide women with access to abortion.
During the first debate this week, both candidates argued about the issues above, on which their opinions differed significantly.
Voters appear to be shifting right as President Joe Biden continues to wreak havoc in the White House, polling shows.
Ryan also appeared to avoid the current administration, distancing himself from Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
A hypothetical poll found that 48 percent of voters would vote for former President Trump, while only 40 percent of voters would support Biden.
