Ohio Republican Congressman Jim Jordan slammed fired FBI Director James Comey on Fox News Thursday night, saying he would not apologize to Mr. Comey in any way. What’s more, it is Comey, now disgraced, who owes America an apology for the past two years.
As Katie reported, the Justice Department Inspector General released a damning report Thursday morning “confirming that fired FBI Director James Comey is a politically motivated liar and persistent leaker of official, confidential information. He broke every FBI policy, protocol and law in his attempt to take down President Trump and his administration by instituting a Special Counsel investigation.”
In brief, the report concluded that Comey “failed to uphold his responsibility. By failing to safeguard confidential information obtained during his employment with the FBI and by using it to pressure the public to act, Comey set a dangerous example for more than 35,000 current FBI employees — and many thousands of former FBI employees — who similarly have access to or knowledge of nonpublic information,” among many other negative characterizations of his questionable conduct.
On The Ingraham Angle with Laura Ingraham, the host asked Congressman Jordan if he would apologize to Comey.
The fired FBI director tweeted Thursday: “DOJ IG ‘found no evidence that Comey or his lawyers disclosed any classified information contained in the memos to the media.’ I don’t need a public apology from those who defamed me, but a quick ‘sorry we lied about you’ would be nice.”
Jordan responded: “Our country had to endure this two-and-a-half-year saga because of one guy – Jim Comey. Jim Comey’s guy, who started the investigation in July 2016… he put it in Peter Sztrok, the same guy who said Trump should lose $100 million to nothing. That’s the guy he put in charge. Jim Comey is the guy who allowed the dossier to be used to get a warrant to spy on American citizens.”
“James Comey is a guy who leaks classified information, breaks FBI rules, leaks classified information to The New York Times through his friend Daniel Richman, for what reason?” Jordan asked. “To get a special prosecutor who got the country into this whole saga based on a false accusation.”
“Jim Comey owes the country an apology because he forced us to do this for two and a half years,” Rep. Jordan continued. “And we know he did it. We know he did it because he wanted to get the president, based on what happened in the meeting on January 6th that you talked about in Trump Tower, where he talked about the dossier, and on page 17 of the report, they said they did it to get information, to trap the president, all the while telling the president, ‘You are not under investigation.’”
“He is responsible for this whole damn thing that has been going on for two and a half years,” he added.
