The left’s rage and cynical politicization in the wake of the weekend’s mass shootings continue unabated. Worse, the demagoguery is aided and abetted by much of the democratic media sophisticated.
But as we learn more about both attackers, one from El Paso and the other from Dayton, the narrative that the shootings were a direct result of President Trump’s rhetoric is falling apart.
There’s been a lot of attention focused on the El Paso shooter. After all, he wrote a manifesto that identified him as a white nationalist, echoing the same views that a vicious white supremacist killer expressed in New Zealand in March. It’s a narrative that resonates with the left.
But in Dayton, which has received far less media attention, the shooter had a different ideology. He was actually a fan of 2020 Democratic candidate Elizabeth Warren, supported gun control and espoused extreme environmental ideologies. That is, of course, in addition to being suspended from school after teachers found a “rape and murder” list compiled by the later mass murderer. Forbes:
A Twitter account believed to belong to Dayton, Ohio, shooting suspect Connor Betts has been discovered, showing the 24-year-old liking posts about the El Paso shooting in the hours before the attack and referring to himself as a leftist who praises Satan.
The posts also reveal that Betts said he would “happily” vote for Senator Elizabeth Warren and that he has attacked right-wing beliefs, at one point tweeting “kill every fascist” in response to a Buzzfeed article about a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville. His Twitter bio read: “he/him/anime fan/metalhead/leftist/going to hell and not coming back.” The account included a selfie of Betts.
Meanwhile, Betts’ ex-girlfriend, Caitlyn “Adelia” Johnson, told The Blade that a series of red flags prompted her to break up with him, including his fascination with shootings. High school classmates say Betts was suspended after making a “victim list” and a “rape list,” the AP reported.
Moreover, the Dayton shooter was an Antifa supporter.
A Twitter account believed to belong to Dayton shooter Connor Betts has been retweeting far-left and anti-police posts, as well as tweets supporting the violent protest group Antifa, CNN reported.

What is it? These evil monsters are exactly that, and they are not part of any political party. The narrative we have been hearing over the past few days is the opposite: mass shooters are always white males, Trump supporters, Republicans, right-wingers, and of course white supremacists. That is simply not true. There is an obvious reason why the El Paso shooter is getting more attention and airtime.
This is the first shooting I’ve seen in recent history where a whole swarm of journalists suddenly stopped caring about the shooter’s story on social media. I wonder why that’s happening. https://t.co/jLv6mGaJx7

The double standards are crazy.
They tried to make a congressional shooter out to be a conservative… Because he had one book.
Although there was ample evidence that he was a liberal. https://t.co/UZ1SnNjhF2

Yesterday, journalists complained widely about a factual NYT headline that interfered with their anti-Trump activism (they changed the headline). Today, there were even more complaints about a completely factual CNN article that interfered with their gun activism.
