The federal government is working with left-wing groups to implement the “Bidenbucks:” Public Records Show

by Natalia Mittelstadt

The federal government is working with left-wing organizations to implement “Bidenbucks,” President Biden’s executive order to convert as many federal agencies as possible into voter get-out (GOTV) centers in all states.

The Justice Department worked with left-leaning organizations to determine how to implement Biden’s executive order to utilize the federal government to register voters, which began after one of those groups helped the Biden administration craft the executive order.

In March 2021, Biden signed Executive Order 14019, often called “Bidenbucks” by critics, a reference to “Zuckerbucks” – approximately $400 million from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg that is widely believed to have been donated by left-wing nonprofits to obtain Democratic votes in the 2020 presidential election year.

According to Executive Order“The head of each agency shall evaluate ways in which the agency may, as appropriate and consistent with applicable law, promote voter registration and voter participation,” including “by soliciting and facilitating approved, nonpartisan third-party organizations and government officials to provide on-site voter registration services.” agency.”

Like “Bidenbucks,” “Zuckerbucks” gained attention when the Center for Technology and Civic Life (CTCL) donated approximately $350 million to local election offices managing the 2020 elections, with most of the funds going to Zuckerberg’s nonprofit organization. Nonprofit says its 2020 election donations – commonly known as “Zuckerbucks” – were awarded without bias to make voting safer during the pandemic.

However, a House of Representatives investigation found that less than 1 percent funds were allocated to personal protective equipment. Most of the resources were focused on them voting efforts and registrations in areas heavily leaning toward Democratic candidates.

The controversy emerged after evidence came to delicate of disproportionate private funding going to Democratic jurisdictions and claims that the imbalance helped tip the 2020 election in Biden’s favor. 28 states have restricted or banned the utilize of private money to finance elections, while 12 counties have also restricted or banned the utilize of private funds, – reports the Capital Research Center.

According to Public records obtained by Heritage Foundation Surveillance ProjectThe Department of Justice held a “listening session” in July 2021 with multiple nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) on the implementation of “Bidenbucks.”

Heritage found that every NGO participant with a political donation history or party affiliation could be identified was a Democrat, except for a member of the Green Party.

These included some non-governmental organizations: AFL-CIO, AFSCME; American Civil Liberties Union; Anti-Defamation League; Black voters matter; Brennan Center for Justice at New York University; A popular case; Democracy Fund; Demos; End Citizens United/Let America Vote; Center for Fair Elections; Fair fight; Honest voice; Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights; Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights; Mexican American Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF); NAACP; National Education Association; National Urban League; Native American Rights Fund, League of Women Voters; Center for Open Society Policy; and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights is a coalition of 240 left-leaning non-governmental organizations and Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division Kristen Clarke headed the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rightspart of the coalition, until her current position in the Biden administration is confirmed.

Public records included notes from a Justice Department listening session with non-governmental organizations, and one of the main concerns was ensuring inmates were registered to vote and tactics aimed at restoring voting rights to felons.

Representative of the Sowanie project said during the meeting: “Where there is a large concentration of eligible voters (for example, a facility in West Virginia with a large number of DC residents) – in-person voting options such as voting machines can be provided. Puerto Rico does this, which leads to greater participation.”

The representative later added“criminal disenfranchisement amounts to voter suppression.”

Also while listening A representative of the Campaign Legal Center said“We remain concerned about the BOP’s exclusive focus on voter registration and solely on people from ME, VT and DC. Felons in Puerto Rico are also eligible to vote. In Mississippi, you don’t lose your right to vote on federal convictions, and AL also has some powers. People convicted of federal misdemeanors can usually vote as well.”

According to Biden’s executive order“The Attorney General shall establish procedures, consistent with applicable law, to make educational materials related to voter registration and voting, and, to the extent practicable, facilitate voter registration, available to all eligible persons in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons. “

Biden order later adds: “The Attorney General will establish procedures consistent with applicable law to ensure that the United States Marshals Service includes language in intergovernmental agreements and prison agreements to require prisons to provide educational materials related to voter registration and voting, and to facilitate voting by mail, in to the extent practicable and appropriate.”

One of the non-governmental organizations Demos published a document on December 3, 2020 entitled Executive Action to Advance Democracy: What the Biden-Harris Administration and Agencies Can Do to Build a More Inclusive Democracy.

According to the document“sets out a series of executive actions the new administration can take, working with federal agencies, to help ensure the integrity of our elections and strengthen civic participation opportunities for all Americans, especially Black and brown Americans.”

The plan includes:

1. Direct federal agencies to provide voter registration services.

2. Strengthen the Department of Justice’s enforcement of voting rights laws and voting rights guidelines.

3. Support the Election Assistance Commission in its efforts to strengthen voting access and voter registration.

4. Create an Office of Democracy and Civic Innovation in the White House.

5. Strengthen the U.S. Postal Service’s ability to deliver election mail and other critical mail to all Americans.

6. Provide access to the Federal Bureau of Prisons data needed to end prison gerrymandering.

On the day Biden signed the executive order, Demos took the credit based on it: ‘The implementing regulation is an critical step forward in the matter Demos initiative promoted as a priority for the Biden-Harris administration during the presidential transition and has been a central focus of the advisory team’s work for many years

According to her websiteDemos “is a nonprofit public policy organization committed to building a just, inclusive, multiracial democracy and economy. We are working hand in hand to build power with and for Black and brown communities by forming strategic alliances with grassroots and state organizations.”
