Rep. Jim Jordan, a ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, outlined his reasons for considering the up-to-date coronavirus commission approved by the House on Thursday.
The Ohio Republican pointed out that there are already eight levels of oversight of the up-to-date relief bill that was passed by the House of Representatives on Thursday, and this will be just another tool to attack President Trump.
“The ninth is political. Eight committees that take care of the taxpayers, the ninth that takes care of Joe Biden. The ninth that is going to take care of President Trump,” Jordan said on the House floor. “This is just a continuation of the attack that the Democrats have had on the president for the last four years. It started before he was president.”
“A select committee in the summer of an election year to attack the president, when we already have eight different entities that are doing the oversight that we all should be doing to look after the taxpayers’ interests, the Democrats want a ninth one because the ninth one is political. And the ninth one will be chaired by our colleague [Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC)]”, the biggest supporter of the Democratic presidential candidate,” Jordan concluded.

The House approved the selection committee on a party-line vote of 212-182, with Rep. Justin Amash (I-MI) voting with Republicans, according to Hill.
“The commission will root out waste, fraud and abuse,” Pelosi said during a House debate. “It will be focused on getting taxpayer dollars to workers, paychecks and benefits. And it will ensure that the federal response is based on the best possible science, guided by health experts, and that the money invested is not diverted to speculators and price gougers.”
