I hope Rep. Jim Jordan’s (R-OH) reelection team is taking note. Because his Democratic opponent, Shannon Freshour, may never live down this one, and it could be perfect material for campaign ads. On Wednesday, after witnessing protests in Michigan over Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s stay-at-home orders and other restrictions, Freshour matter-of-factly stated that “Republicans everywhere want people to die while claiming to be pro-life.”
To be sure, she added that Republicans are “hate mongers, traitors, Confederate supporters.”

Some social media users agreed with her opinion, saying protesters were “blocking ambulances” and putting the community at risk.
Protesters argued they had legitimate reasons for their demonstration, telling Whitmer they wanted to get back to work.
“We don’t need a nanny state telling people how to be careful,” Meshawn Maddock, an organizer of the protest, told Fox News.
The Michigan Governor’s recent executive order introduced some of the the strictest measures in the country. Residents are not even allowed to buy gardening tools or painting supplies.
Michigan residents will not be allowed to travel to vacation homes within the state. They are not allowed to exploit motorboats. Business restrictions have been tightened, including the closure of gigantic stores “dedicated to carpeting, flooring, furniture, gardening, nurseries or paints” and other measures. Violators could be fined or charged with a misdemeanor, although the practicality of strict enforcement is unclear.
Whitmer’s guidance even drew the ire of some of her fellow Michigan Democrats. State law enforcement officials also wondered whether Whitmer had “overstepped her executive authority.”
“It’s amazing that you want to represent the people of Ohio and yet you’re so full of hate,” one Twitter user replied to Freshour. “I look forward to your crushing defeat and I hope you take the time for some introspection.”
“Stupid Democrats, still desperately trying to nullify First and Fourteenth Amendment rights to liberty,” wrote another.
Jordan and Freshour will face off in the November 3 congressional election in Ohio’s 4th congressional district.
