While House impeachment managers argued that witnesses should be called during the Senate trial, Andrew Bates, former Vice President Joe Biden’s rapid response director, was busy telling voters “what really happened in Ukraine.”
“Donald Trump was caught red-handed. And I’m going to give you the facts,” Bates said. “So what really happened in Ukraine? In 2014, Russia invaded the country, and the United States and our allies decided that we had to support them against that Russian aggression. President Obama tapped Vice President Joe Biden to lead that effort because of his foreign policy record.”
“So there was this guy, Viktor Shokin. He was the prosecutor general of Ukraine, which is like the attorney general of the United States. He became the embodiment of the corruption that had long damaged the government of Ukraine. Everyone from the EU to the IMF to Republican senators to the entire anti-corruption community in Ukraine desperately wanted him out,” Bates said. “They were protesting him in the streets. And Joe Biden is the person who got him out of office. It was a monumental, bipartisan, anti-corruption victory.”
“Three Republican senators have signed on to this bipartisan effort — Rob Portman of Ohio, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and Mark Kirk of Illinois. So where does Donald Trump fit into all this?” the staffer asked. “He claims that because the vice president’s son, Hunter, was on the board of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma, Biden somehow acted inappropriately when he advocated for Viktor Shokin to lose his job. The clinical term for that is shit.”
Bates argued that Biden was following official U.S. policy in advocating for Shokin’s removal from power and that more than a year has passed since Shokin launched an investigation into Burisma.
“The truth is the exact opposite of what Donald Trump told you. The fact is that removing him from office meant that Burisma would likely be under some kind of scrutiny,” the Biden staffer said. “But Donald Trump doesn’t want you to know that the investigation into Burisma involved things that happened years before Hunter Biden had any involvement with the company.”
Bates called the whole saga “nonsense.” Bates cited testimony from Kurt Volker, who said Trump was spreading “self-serving” conspiracy theories that lacked credibility.
“Donald Trump was caught red-handed undermining our national security by trying to force a foreign country to smear the candidate he is terrified of running against in November,” the Biden staffer explained.
Bates cited a whistleblower reporter and a transcript of a July 25 phone call as evidence that Trump is wary of competing with Biden.
“His goal was to force Ukraine to spread a thoroughly debunked right-wing conspiracy theory about the vice president that a Washington Post fact-checker called a ‘fountain of lies,’” the employee said.
According to Bates, Trump orchestrated this entire saga because “he knows he can’t beat Joe Biden. So he did something that literally no American president, ever in our history, not even Richard Nixon, has ever stooped to. He tried to make our national security policy an extension of his difficult re-election campaign.”
Biden’s campaign is a sham. First of all, Biden is not the only Democrat running for president and he is absolutely NO guarantee he’ll get the nomination. That’s just the assumption his campaign is based on.
Two, Ukraine never received military aid under the Obama administration. It happened under Trump.
And third, how can Americans turn a blind eye to the corruption that the Bidens are involved in? Hunter Biden had absolutelyerotic experience in natural energy, yet he earned between $50,000 and $83,000 month sit on the board of Burisma. How does that happen?
How can Americans believe that Hunter Biden, or even Joe Biden, is innocent when Hunter was in trouble while his father was handling international relations with Ukraine on behalf of the Obama administration?
Biden’s staffers may call it “shit” or “crap,” but guess what? It’s a mess. It’s the kind of behavior Americans hate to see from our politicians. And President Trump was right to ask Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate the corruption going on in his country.
