Handgun bullets are not effective in stopping school shooters because they are too tardy.

UPDATE:Guys, I’ll leave this here. This is from Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) linking to Rolling stone article, so you already know where this is heading.

“A gunshot wound is simply a stab wound.”

What is this?

Speaking of facepalming. Is this media stupidity or sandbagging because they know the National Rifle Association initiative might gain traction? You decide. The NRA wants more armed guards in schools. Teachers should be allowed to carry weapons, too. After the tragic Sandy Hook shooting, the school board voted to approve the proposal. It’s not a recent concept. Many schools have backup officers; Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, the site of the most recent school shooting on February 14th, had one. They failed to engage the shooter, Nikolas Cruz. Dozens of teachers in Ohio are taking firearms courses to get concealed carry permits. So if the NRA is like ISIS in the minds of the liberal media, what do you do? Well, if you’re MSNBC, you’re apparently doing it to argue that handguns aren’t effective at stopping shooters armed with rifles because handguns are too tardy. I’ll repeat that: handgun ammunition moves so slowly that it is not effective in stopping someone armed with a rifle (via Daily Interlocutor):

MSNBC anchors say teachers armed with handguns would not be able to stop a school shooter because rifles fire “three times faster.”

Host Lawrence O’Donnell said on his show Thursday night that “a bullet fired from an AR-15 rifle travels three times faster than a bullet fired from a handgun … and yet the president and the NRA think giving teachers guns will stop a school shooter.”

Yes, there is a difference, but we’re talking about tenths of a second here. Also, veteran J.R. Salzman seemed bewildered by the narrative: Didn’t two Capitol Police officers stop a shooter from killing multiple Republicans in Alexandria as they practiced for an annual baseball game? Uh, yes — they did. They confronted the shooter, attacked him; it turned out he was a Bernie Sanders supporter, and they neutralized the threat. House Speaker Steve Scalise (R-LA) was nearly killed in the attack.

This is why the media will always lose the Second Amendment fight. Millions of Americans own firearms. They know the caliber, they know the capabilities, and they know the proper terminology (e.g., automatic vs. semi-automatic). I’m not talking about the super technical jargon of a gunsmith, just the basics of guns. They know what they have, and the media’s pervasive inability to understand what they’re talking about will never win over the Americans they need to change the nature of gun policy. This is because the alternative presented by the left is outright confiscation of guns, the evisceration of the Second Amendment, and the disenfranchisement of Americans. This is another reason they will never win. We know their game. It’s this kind of garbage, as peddled by MSNBC, that makes for great entertainment.
