Polls show most Americans want troops sent to border and oppose illegal immigration

by Bethany Blankley

Polls consistently point to two main objections to the Biden-Harris administration’s border policy: Americans not only overwhelmingly oppose illegal immigration, but they also want troops to be sent to the southern border and secured.

Two modern recent polls confirm this trend, although polls consistently show that Americans overwhelmingly condemn Vice President Kamala Harris’ work as “border czar.”

New Naples Information Agency vote found that 84 percent of registered voters believe “illegal immigration is bad for the United States,” while only 12 percent believe it is good.

The news agency reports that the ratio of opposition to support regarding illegal immigration “has remained essentially unchanged for decades.”

The immense majority of those surveyed, 71 percent, said they support legal immigration, arguing it is good for the country. Those who oppose illegal immigration say it harms Americans.

“This view has also remained stable for decades. Voters draw a clear distinction between legal and illegal immigration,” the news service reports.

The main reason for opposition: crime. Of those surveyed, 49 percent cited crime as the main problem; 28 percent said illegal immigration allows criminals and terrorists to enter the country; 26 percent said it is a burden on the economy and health care; 16 percent that it allows perilous people to enter; 5 percent that it allows drugs and dealers to enter.

“Overall, these numbers reflect the fact that voters see America as both a land of immigrants and a land of rights,” said RMG Research President Scott Rasmussen. “Voters understand why most immigrants want to bring their families to the land of opportunity. But they are angry at the federal government for allowing and encouraging illegal immigration.”

In a separate vote75 percent of those surveyed said they supported sending U.S. troops to “confront drug cartels and secure the border.”

“That’s a significant increase since President Biden took office, with a combined 90 percent of Republicans and 62 percent of Democrats among them,” Napolitan News Service reported.

The results are consistent with several other polls.

Recent Rasmussen Report vote found that nearly two-thirds of those surveyed believed the crisis on the southern border should be called an invasion. The immense majority said border security is a critical national security interest (70 percent) and agreed that what is happening is a crisis (72 percent).

This comes after Texas changed the way border talks were conducted, introducing the term and concept of an invasion to the American public, with 55 counties announcing the invasionSixty counties also issued disaster declarations, citing the border crisis.

Recently, the Monmouth University Polling Institute conducted a study report a majority of those surveyed said they supported building a border wall, a policy implemented by former President Donald Trump that Biden completed on his first day in office. A majority of those surveyed, more than 80 percent, said illegal immigration is a “very serious (61 percent) or somewhat serious (23 percent) problem.”

“Public concern about illegal immigration is higher under President Joe Biden than in the two previous administrations,” the institute said.

University of Texas/Texas Politics Project vote found that a majority of Texans, including Latinos and blacks, support building a wall and border security measures. He also found that Democrats in Texas are increasingly supportive of Trump.

Overall, 65 percent of all Texas voters favored Texas building its own wall and barriers; 57 percent supported Texas installing sea buoys on the Rio Grande; and 66 percent supported sending additional state police and military forces to the border.

A majority (56%) of Latino voters in Texas also disapprove of Biden’s handling of immigration and border security, the UT/TPP poll finds.

Another UT/TPP vote found that Texans overwhelmingly support Governor Greg Abbott’s border security efforts under Operation Lone Star, including supporting Texas in installing sea barriers, constructing a border wall and physical barriers on the Texas-Mexico border, deploying additional resources to the border, and transporting illegal aliens north.

These results are similar to those of The Center Square Voters’ Voice poll conducted in partnership with Noble Predictive Insights. vote Last year, it found that 82 percent of Americans were concerned about border security. Of those, 50 percent said the border crisis had worsened under the Biden-Harris administration.

Other since March, it has been found that 62 percent of voters believe the United States is headed in the wrong direction under the Biden-Harris administration, and other showing that illegal immigration, almost as much as inflation, causes high costs, which is the biggest problem.

Another Voter’s Voice poll finds that Americans want states to play a role in border security, supporting Texas and other states’ right to secure their borders.
