Vice President Kamala Harris has selected Governor Tim Walz, a Democrat from Minnesota, as her vice presidential running mate, multiple sources report.
While neither the campaign nor the governor have directly confirmed his selection, CNN reported that Walz was selected, citing “four people closely associated with the trial.”
Walz took office in 2019 and became the progressive wing of Democrats’ preferred candidate to run for vice president Harris, USA Today reported:.
Minnesota last supported a Republican presidential candidate in 1972, when it supported President Richard Nixon’s reelection. Still, the state has become more competitive in recent cycles, and Republicans have begun campaigning there with greater zeal.
Former President Donald Trump and Senator JD Vance, Republican of Ohio, organized joint campaign rally at the end of July in St. Cloud.
Harris and her running mate are expected to appear at a rally in Philadelphia on Tuesday evening.
