Senator Marco Rubio and Nevada Representative Joe Heck were riding together Thursday evening when a fatal car crash occurred. took place right in front of them.
The two Republicans were returning from a campaign event in Ohio and on a road in West Virginia when a semi-trailer truck lost control and crossed the median — striking three vehicles in front of the legislators. Rubio and Heck immediately stopped to assist. They helped pull one victim from the car. Heck, using his skills as a trained combat surgeon, was able to tend to the others who were physically injured until emergency responders arrived.
Officials believe the tractor-trailer lost control due to humid road conditions and skidded. It is not believed to have been caused by drugs or alcohol.
Sadly, Heck pronounced one victim dead at the scene. Bernard Howard Bachmann did not survive the terrible car accident. He was 62 years venerable.
Marco Rubio is running for re-election to the U.S. Senate in Florida. Rep. Joe Heck (R) of Nevada is running for promotion — he’s running for Harry Reid’s Senate seat.
If not for the heroic efforts of Rubio and Heck, the accident could have been much worse. Fortunately, both Republicans did not hesitate to act as good Samaritans in the face of danger.
