Clinton loses seven points in three days

When you combine Hillary Clinton’s lack of appeal with her supposedly ethically questionable actions regarding paid access to the Clinton Foundation, you’re going to lose in the polls. In fact, Clinton has lost seven points to Donald Trump over the past three days. Nationally, she still leads by five points, but that’s still within reach for the Republican candidate. That says more about her than it does about Trump.

Both are unpopular frontrunners for their political parties, but Clinton seems unable to crack 50 percent. Clinton’s campaign has its vivid side, too. She still leads in key swing states. And if the election were held today, she would easily collect enough electoral votes to win. Still, it shows that Hillary’s position in the polls may be very frail, with one bad documentary standing between her and a huge drop in support (via Hill):

Hillary Clinton’s lead over Donald Trump has shrunk to 5 percentage points, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Friday.

Clinton, the Democratic nominee, has 41 percent support among likely voters, while Trump, her GOP counterpart, has 36 percent. Twenty-three percent said they would not vote or would choose another candidate.

The same poll on Tuesday showed Clinton leading by 12 points. In last Friday’s Reuters/Ipsos poll, she had an 8-point lead.

For Trump, this is good news. It shows that the potential ethical issues that surround the Clintons like hungry sharks are resonating with American voters. While it’s good that Trump is attacking them for the shady dealings of their family foundation, this is something he should have been doing for months. He should have focused his attacks on that. Don’t attack Gold Star families. Enough with the attacks on a judge’s ethnicity — and saying he can’t do his job effectively because of it.

Focus on attacking Clinton, the fact that voters don’t trust her, and her terrible record in the Foreign Policy Department. Tell her it’s going to be a third term for Obama, but one that’s going to be marked by an all-out assault on our Second Amendment rights. Hit her on trade. There’s plenty of ammunition to exploit against Hillary Clinton. And I would suggest longer campaign trails through Arizona, Georgia, Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Missouri. Yes, Clinton is down in the national polls, but things are tight in some traditionally Republican states. That’s what you get with a delicate candidate, although Trump is the right’s best chance to beat Hillary in November.
