Senator Sherrod Brown just presented Republicans with a gift after meeting with influential people

As a gift to Republicans at the start of the general election, incumbent Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio was caught on video “sincerely” distrusting the Israeli government to honor the ceasefire just as he distrusts Hamas terrorists seeking to eliminate the Jewish state.

According to a TikTok user from Columbus, Ohio who says was among the influencers invited to a weekend meeting with Senator Brown, the summit was supposed to concern the bill regulating the viral video application considered by Congress. But according to TikToker Justin Jordan, it was more of an attempt to push Brown’s re-election bid in a race considered crucial to determining the balance of power in Washington, which begins in 2025. Even Sen. Cory Booker (R-N.J.) joined the meeting to hype Brown and his album.

After Brown and Booker answered several pre-approved questions, according to Jordan’s account, Jordan decided to ask one of his own as the event came to a close. “Do you support a ceasefire in Gaza?” Jordan asked while recording on his phone.

“I would answer this question with ‘no’ for weeks just because I don’t trust that neither Hamas nor, frankly, Netanyahu will keep the ceasefire,” Brown said in his off-camera answer.

After capturing Brown’s response, Jordan said in a TikTok summarizing the meeting that the senator’s staffer asked Jordan to delete the video and at one point asked Jordan to “Give me your phone.” Two of Jordan’s requests were not granted.

Townhall contacted Brown’s re-election campaign via the email listed on its website, but did not receive a response to our inquiry about why the senator considers the government of Israel and the terrorist leadership of Hamas to be equivalent, or reasons to explain why he does not trust Israel that you would keep his word.

Even without a response to Townhall’s inquiry, the reactions of Brown’s aides when they learned his comments were recorded seem to speak for themselves.

Brown faces a earnest re-election challenge from businessman Bernie Moreno, the GOP candidate who swept every county in the state on Tuesday to secure the GOP nomination. A Moreno campaign spokeswoman told Townhall that “Sherrod Brown sides with Hamas on Israel every time.”

“While innocent Israelis are brutally murdered, raped and mutilated by Hamas terrorists, Sherrod Brown bows to anti-Israel groups like CAIR and echoes far-left, anti-Semitic activists calling for an ‘immediate ceasefire’,” Moreno’s campaign stressed. “Bernie is proud to always stand with Israel and it’s a shame that Sherrod Brown doesn’t.”

The November U.S. Senate elections in Ohio are one of the key races for Republicans who want to overthrow incumbent Democrats and regain a majority in the upper house. The organization supporting GOP candidates is headed by the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), led by Senator Steve Daines of Montana.

“Behind closed doors, Sherrod Brown is an anti-Israel radical who has happily lined up with Chuck Schumer as he undermines one of our closest allies abroad,” Philip Letsou, an NRSC spokesman, told Townhall. “Ohioans cannot trust Sherrod Brown to stand up to Democrats’ far-left extremism.”

Making his inexplicable position on Israel all too clear again, Brown was among a group of Democratic senators who signed on to a letter this week, demanding that President Joe Biden “publicly outline a path forward for the United States to recognize a non-militarized Palestinian state” to be “governed by a revived and reformed Palestinian Authority.”

The madness of such an idea – how do you “reform” an entity run for decades by a Holocaust denier and well known for its “pay to kill” system that funnels money to the families of bloodthirsty terrorists killed in attacks on innocent Israelis? – should be ridiculed bluntly.

Moreover, so does the Foundation for the Defense of Democracy (FDD). recorded The PA’s “governing” body is: “The PA is not a democratic representative of the Palestinians”, “widely unpopular among Palestinians”, “is riddled with corruption” and “has rejected many peace offers.”

But if, as Brown said in a video captured by a TikToker, he distrusts Israel any more than he trusts Hamas, he obviously sees no problem in foolishly trusting and acknowledging the supposedly “reformed” PA.
