Was Biden really right with his “freedom over democracy” blunder?

President Joe Biden has been doing a lot of campaign events in Pennsylvania this week, as he did during Tuesday’s economic address in his hometown of Scranton. He was also in Philadelphia on Thursday. Although it was not outside Independence Hall, as where he made his celebrated speech about “fighting for the soul of the nation,” it was still in the same city. Despite the different location, the topic remained the same in some ways, as the president touched on topics such as “democracy” and “freedom.” At one point, as is his wont, Biden mixed things up by asking the crowd if they were “ready to choose freedom.” above democration.”

Even the official White House transcript admits slip-up by claiming he meant “freedom.” AND democration.” In the full context of his tirade to the applauding crowd, Biden concluded his speech by invoking lines that so many of us have heard before and that have so discouraged us:

In 2024, we have a chance to reconnect hope and history. Are you ready to do it with me? (Applause.)

Are you ready to move forward, not backward? (Applause.)

Are you ready to choose unity over division, dignity over demolition, and choose truth over lies? (Applause.) Are you ready to choose freedom? above [and] democration? Because this is America. (Applause.)

Guys, I’ve been doing this for a long time – I know I only look 40, but I’ve been doing it for a long time. (Laughter). But I’ve never been more sanguine about our future, and I mean that sincerely.

We just have to remember who we are. We are the United States of America. There is nothing – I mean it honestly. Think about it. We are the only nation in the world – as a student of history, I can say this – that has emerged from every crisis stronger than it entered.

There is nothing – nothing beyond our capabilities when we do it together.

Americans’ experiences under Biden’s presidency, as reflected in polls, do not seem to suggest that voters think that by electing Biden we are “ready to move forward.” Biden is also an incredibly divisive president, as we have explained in detail before. We’ve also heard a lot of lies about former and potentially future President Donald Trump, from Biden himself and social media poststo the terrible habit from the Biden HQ X account on a wide range of topics.

Biden can tell all the jokes in the world about his age as voters If concerned, but this is no laughing matter. He may be sanguine, but the American people are not. RealClearPolling it shows that just 26 percent believe we are heading in the right direction and 64.0 percent believe we are on the wrong track.

But perhaps Biden is on to something when it comes to the “freedom” faux pas. above despite all the threats to democracy that Biden and his fellow Democrats are warning about, it is Biden who is using his armed and politicized Department of Justice (DOJ) to prosecute Trump, with special counsel Jack Smith bringing both January 6-related charges and classified documents in April 2022 As the story gained more attention, a report in The New York Times highlighted how Biden “said privately that he wanted Mr. Garland to act less like a stodgy judge and more like a prosecutor. who is ready to take decisive action in response to the events of January 6.”

The Justice Department is not only attacking Biden’s main political opponent, but also ordinary Americans. Peaceful pro-lifers praying at abortion facilities were charged and found guilty under the Free Access to Clinical Entrance Act (FACE) and how concerned parents at school board meetings were targeted, as well as time-honored Catholics.

Moments earlier in his speech, Biden told several lies of his own, even as he encouraged the audience to “choose truth over lies.”

The president warned that “today we face another turning point in history” and that “the 2024 elections represent two fundamentally different visions… for America. Donald Trump’s vision is one of anger, hatred, vengeance and revenge. ” In this context, Biden recalled Trump’s remarks about being a dictator “from day one,” which he said jokingly, and also confirmed were a joke, as were the “bloodbath” comments, which were clearly aimed at the economics of the US auto industry, especially considering he made them in Dayton, Ohio.

These tactics are getting old, but it looks like Biden will increasingly use such false narratives in his campaign.

However, this does not only apply to Biden. On Tuesday, when he spoke with CNN’s John Berman to preview the president’s speech, campaign co-chairman Mitch Landrieu tried to similarly reinforce the president, claiming that “an amazing thing that should be obvious to everyone” is the way “Joe Biden he gets up every day fighting for the American people, he’s doing what I call the hard work of good governance all the time, and he can focus on that because he’s focused on bringing people together.” But Berman wasn’t really buying it.

Earlier in the speech, Biden talked about how he would “win Pennsylvania” with the lend a hand of a man named John White Jr. and his son Kellan, who works on the campaign. Biden is just leading there by +0.5whereas currently he is for Trump in all of them other swing states.
