A jury found Trump guilty of all 34 counts of first-degree falsifying business records in connection with the $130,000 restitution that his then-lawyer Michael Cohen paid to porn star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 presidential election.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and U.S. Attorney Matthew Colangelo agreed to publicly testify before the House Judiciary Committee on July 12, the day after former President Trump’s hush money hearing that found him guilty.
Trump was charged with 34 counts of first-degree falsifying business records in connection with the restitution of $130,000 that his then-lawyer Michael Cohen paid to porn star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 presidential election.
He was found guilty on all charges. Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee in 2024, has declared his innocence and vowed to defy the charges.
Colangelo worked at the Justice Department but left his position in December 2022 to work on Bragg’s team before Trump was charged.
The Department of Justice stated There are no records of Colangelo’s communications with Bragg’s office while he worked at the Justice Department.
