Catching our eyes
Shifting the blame. The Toledo Blade editorial board writes: “Who should we blame?“
Apoorva Ramaswamy delivers shocking news in her husband Vivek’s campaign kickoff ad: “Ohio families are working hard, but they’re falling behind.” …
But the ad sends a strange message. Republicans have had 100 percent control of state government since 2011, when Republican John Kasich replaced one-term Democrat Ted Strickland as governor, and then for many years before Mr. Strickland. If Ohioans are falling behind, how is it possible that this isn’t on the GOP’s doorstep?
Given Republican dominance in state politics since 1991, we’d like to hear much more from Mr. Ramaswamy about who can be blamed for “left behind” Ohioans, as well as his wife’s concerns about safety and great schools.
You’d think that after 15 years of leadership, the party in power wouldn’t claim that people are “being left behind.”
More cuts in health care? As Axios reports: “GOP Considers Health Care Cuts to Pay for War in Iran“
Republicans are considering cutting federal health care spending to lend a hand pay for a budget bill that includes as much as $200 billion to fund the Iran war and immigration enforcement.
Candidate retention. Report by WCMH’s Isabel Cleary and Orri Benatar: “Congressional candidate describes being arrested during a protest in Grove City“
The congressional candidate arrested Saturday during the “No Kings” protest in Grove City spoke to NBC4 less than 24 hours after the incident. Democratic candidate Don Leonard sat down with NBC4’s Isabel Cleary to discuss his arrest, which went viral on social media.
Videos obtained by NBC4 show Leonard standing on the floor of the truck and speaking to protesters using a bullhorn. Two Grove City police officers arrive and ask to speak to him. Leonard agrees and walks away with them about 30 feet and one of the officers takes a bullhorn.
Voting attempt. WCPO’s Ally Kraemer reports: “A proposed ballot measure could ban enormous data centers across Ohio“
The decision to ban enormous data centers in Ohio may soon be up to voters after Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost reviewed a ballot measure request.
Ohioans for Responsible Development filed a motion to introduce a voting ban. The amendment would prohibit data centers from using more than 25 megawatts per month.
…Huh? The Guardian reports: “J.D. Vance claims aliens are “demons” and details his obsession with UFOs“
J.D. Vance, Vice President of the United States, said this weekend that he believes aliens are “demons”…
“I don’t think they’re aliens, at least I think they’re demons, but that’s a longer discussion,” he said.
