by Eric Lendrum

A fresh poll shows that a gigantic majority of Americans believe the New York trial of former President Donald Trump was a politically motivated show trial.

as Daily conversationalist According to an ABC News/Ipsos poll, 47 percent of Americans believe the trial was indeed a political hit, and 38 percent say the trial was legal and fair. In terms of the “guilty” verdict, 50 percent. respondents believe that the verdict was right; in contrast, just 27 percent believed the verdict was wrong, while the remaining 23 percent said they “didn’t know” what to believe about the verdict.

Among those who said they followed the case closely, 55 percent say the verdict was right and 35 percent say it was wrong; another 8 percent said “I don’t know.”

After the verdict was announced, 49 percent respondents said Trump should end his re-election campaign. Among supporters, only 16 percent of Republicans said Trump should withdraw, while 75 percent wanted him to continue his candidacy. Among Democrats, 79 percent want Trump to withdraw now, while 52 percent of independents say the same.

The same poll also found that the trial and its outcome had virtually no effect on Trump’s support and may have even led to a slight augment. While the former president’s favorability rating was 29 percent in March, his favorability rating now stands at 31 percent. Biden’s approval rating is at 32 percent, down slightly from 33 percent in March.

The poll was conducted among 781 U.S. adults between May 31 and June 1. The margin of error is 3.7%.
