Ohio Governor Mike DeWine remains silent on Donald Trump’s 34 criminal convictions

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine continues to remain silent on former President Donald Trump’s 34 criminal convictions.

A quick “no” was all DeWine said Tuesday morning when the Ohio Capital Journal asked if he had an answer for the Manhattan jury convicting Trump on all 34 counts of falsifying business records to conceal secret payments to porn star Stormy Daniels covered up the affair in an attempt to influence the 2016 presidential election.

But DeWine’s comments, or lack thereof, stand in stark contrast to those of other Ohio Republicans.

Several Ohio Republican lawmakers and leaders was quick to criticize the verdicts and reacted with indignation. Ohio Republican Senator J.D. Vance said, “That’s not true justice is election interference.”

Ohio Attorney (*34*) Dave Yost predicted the verdict would be overturned and Lt. Gov. Jon Husted said the real verdict will come during the presidential election.

Asked during a call with reporters Tuesday what DeWine thought about comments from other Republicans casting doubt on the legality of the legal process, he replied: “I’m not going to comment on that today… I may have some thoughts on that.”

Trump is the Republican Party’s candidate for president of the United States for the third time and last week the convictions date back to $130,000 “quietly” paid by his lawyer Michael Cohen to adult film star Stormy Daniels in the days leading up to the 2016 election. Trump will be sentenced on July 11 – just days before the Republican National Convention.
