Ken Martin, chairman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) on Tuesday, withdrew the resolution on the conflict of Israel-Hamas after receiving the resignation, when the competition failed, which caused the indignation of younger members.
Democrats were strongly divided into Israel since the war broke out in 2023 between Israel and Hamas, after Hamas’s terrorist attack in Israel on October 7, killing about 1200 and taking another 251 hostage people. The younger party members called for a stronger opposition to Israel’s reaction to the conflict, which many democrats blame the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Martin, whose resolution required the suspension of weapons and the free flow of assistance to Gaza and was adopted by the DNC panel, said that he would withdraw a resolution for unity in the party after the failure of the second resolution. Failed resolution required an embargo on weapons and suspension of military assistance to Israel.
“Earlier today I introduced a resolution … which focused on finding a common plane in our party in a very painful humanitarian problem and it is consistent with our party platform,” said Martin Committee for the DNC resolution, Hill Reported. “This crisis in gas is urgent, and my resolution focuses on the humanitarian crisis and explains that it should be solved as emergency.
“I know that there are some who are interested in making changes today,” he continued. “But, as we have seen, in our event is divided in this matter. This is a moment that calls for a common dialogue that requires joint support, and therefore I decided today, listen to testimonies and listening to people on our website, withdrawing my amendment and resolution to enable us to continue talking about this as an event.
Allison Minnerly, a 26-year-old member of the Democratic National Committee from Florida, which introduced the second resolution, said that she saw a wave of support for voters for more severe positions since her resolution became public.
“Most of our party are looking for answers and leadership in this matter and will continue to send E -Maile, such as almost 200,000, which were sent this week,” said Minnerly Reporters, for NBC News. “I will not be surprised if activism and organization are ongoing.”
Minnerly added that she hopes that Martin listens to his voice in this matter in the future and that he is part of a conversation about a democratic response to war in Gaza.
The problem appears as a party Fights The unification after the election in 2024 caused a stern blow to his power. The former vice president of Kamala Harris lost the offer of the presidency, and the Republicans gained control over both chambers of Congress.
