The Ohio Senate provides a budget containing an anti-LGBTQ+ attack board

The Ohio Senate donated its version of the two-year state budget and left all the anti-LGBTQ+ regulations intact by the chamber.

The version given by the Senate contained:

  • A policy that, on the executive order of President Donald Trump, “to recognize two sexes, men and women.” According to the budget language, “these sexes are not variable and are based on basic and undeniable reality.”
  • Prohibiting the exploit of Medicaid to mental health services, which “promote or confirm sex transition.”
  • Keeping state money from youth shelters that support transgender youth.
  • The requirement of libraries to place material related to sexual orientation or sexual identity or expression from the view of people under 18 years of age.
  • Ban on menstrual products from men’s toilets of public buildings.
  • The manovs that state agencies can only fly with the official flag of Ohio in the area or buildings, effectively prohibiting the display of pride flags.

The budget was approved by a voice of 23 to 10, mainly along the party lines with Sen. Louis W. Blessing III (R-Colerain Township) breaking the ranks to vote against Document 5048 pages.

The Senate did not approve the proposed language that would require that driving licenses or birth certificates reflect the transgender sex of people assigned from birth.

The Democrats Senate introduced changes to remove the language of the “cultural war” Anti-LGBTQ+, but none of these corrections was effective.

“Unfortunately, the Republican majority presented to the inhabitants of Ohio one more opportunity in the budget to continue the cultural war,” said the leader of the Democratic Senate Nicke Antonio (D-shelawood) at a press conference.

The Ohio house voted to disagree, which means that they did not approve the changes that the Senate introduced to the document since the budget was adopted in April.

The legislators will now meet in committees to agree on a document that can be sent to the governor Mike Dewine for his signature by the end of June.

Dewine has the freedom to veto individual lines in the budget. Ding
