Hunter’s business associate, Rob Walker, wants to justify Biden’s involvement in the family business

In addition to releasing the transcript of Kevin Morris’s testimony, the House Oversight Committee this week heard testimony from Rob Walker, a Biden family associate who was particularly involved in the family’s business dealings with Chinese and Romanian entities. He met Hunter Biden during the Clinton administration and has also worked for the Bidens before, including on Joe Biden’s 2008 presidential campaign and for Jill Biden during the Obama administration, when now-President Joe Biden was vice president.

As a familiar source explained to Townhall, Hunter Biden and his associates worked with and benefited from a Chinese government-linked entity called CEFC. Biden’s family members received money from a deal they didn’t even work on shortly after leaving the White House in 2017.

Hunter and Biden family associates began working with CEFC in 2015, when Biden was still vice president. They were not paid for their work until 2017, when Biden left the White House. In 2016, Walker wrote a letter of thanks to CEFC president Ye Jianming for his cooperation, but he put it on Hunter’s letterhead and could not adequately explain why,

Hunter Biden and his aides met with Ye in February 2017 to strike another deal with CEFC. In March 2017, Joe Biden attended the CEFC meeting at the Four Seasons Hotel.

Extensive report from New York Post. also provides details on how Biden himself met with Ye:

Walker testified during his testimony as part of the House’s presidential impeachment inquiry that shortly after Joe Biden left the vice president’s office, he attended a meeting attended by about 10 people associated with CEFC China Energy, including company president Ye Jianming, said a source familiar with Walker’s testimony.

The meeting at the posh Four Seasons Hotel in Washington was previously described by Walker – without naming Ye as a participant – in an interview with the FBI published by the House Ways and Means Committee.

Walker described Joe Biden’s appearance at the FBI as a lunch drop between Hunter and his CEFC colleagues.

Joe Biden “said hello to everyone” and then “literally sat down.” I don’t think he even drank water. I think Hunter said, um… “Maybe I’m trying to start a company,” aha, or he was trying to do something with these guys and could you… and [I] “I think he said, ‘If I’m around’ … and he’ll show up,” Walker told the office.

However, a second source familiar with Walker’s testimony said Walker described Joe Biden’s appearance as innocent.

“Walker told the committee that he thought Joe Biden stopped by briefly because Joe Biden just wanted to see his son, who was sober and recovering,” the second person said.

This was around the same time that the Bidens received $3 million from CEFC for work done by Hunter and his associates and a “thank you” for that work since Biden was vice president.

Walker’s name has previously come up during an investigation into the Biden family’s ties to his company, Robinson Walker, LLC. Mention was made of a $3 million payment received by the LLC in the note from the House Oversight Committee last March, as Townhall reported at the time. The memo explained how more than $1 million was then transferred to James Gilliar, another family associate. Members of the Biden family, including Hallie Biden and companies associated with Hunter and James Biden, then received the payments.

Walker testified that Hunter Biden directed him to send payments to his sister-in-law and uncle, even though they did not work for the CEFC entity. James Biden also wanted some of the entity’s money, even though he wasn’t even involved in the deal. The source describes it as “[m]“We provide evidence that Biden influence peddling appears to be a scheme to enrich the Biden family.”

AND Fox News Reportwhich also noted Walker’s initial statement obtained by this outlet, noted House Judiciary Committee Chairman James Jordan’s (R-OH) thoughts on such testimony:

Hours after the interview was transcribed, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, told reporters that Walker had testified that “a few weeks after Joe Biden left the vice presidency, Hunter Biden and his team, these guys that they do business with, enter into a deal with the company affiliated to CEFC, a Chinese energy company.”

Jordan said there was a luncheon at the Four Seasons “a few days later” attended by CEFC executives Hunter, James Gilliar and Walker. Jordan said, “Joe Biden stops and gives a presentation.” Jordan said a few days later, a Chinese company sent Walker $3 million.

“I think it’s just a moment, just a sequence,” Jordan said.

IN statement released Friday evening about Walker’s testimony, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) explained what it means for their investigation. “The evidence continues to show that Biden sold the ‘Biden brand’ to enrich the Biden family,” he said, referring to a key detail often mentioned by House Republicans. Comer’s statement also alluded to Biden’s family members receiving payments without working on the transaction, noting: “[t]This is the kind of swampy influence Americans want us to end.”

Moreover, all the while Biden was leading anti-corruption efforts in Romania and the United States was providing funding for it, Hunter Biden and Walker were asked by corrupt Romanian businessman Gabriel Popoviciu to become involved in his foreign legal cases. According to the source, Walker during Friday’s testimony, when asked about what Hunter had done for Popoviciu, explained that Hunter had flown to Romania to meet with the recently confirmed U.S. ambassador to Romania, Hans Klemm.

The New York Post mentioned that “Hunter flew to Romania on November 15, 2016, for a two-day trip to represent Popović before the National Anticorruption Directorate. Two days after Hunter returned, he had ‘breakfast with dad’ on his schedule.”

Comer’s statement also raised the issue of Hunter Biden and Walker’s connections to the Romanian. “Additionally, as Joe Biden led anti-corruption efforts in Romania, Hunter Biden and Rob Walker began an ill-defined business relationship with Romanian businessman Gabriel Popovic. Mr. Walker also confirmed that he and Hunter Biden received payments from Popoviciu beginning in 2015 and continuing through the rest of Vice President Joe Biden’s term. In exchange for a lucrative payment, Hunter Biden traveled to Romania and spoke with the U.S. ambassador to Romania to discuss a foreign matter legal position of Mr. Popoviciu,” explained the chairman.

Now President Joe Biden’s name and presence were common, and yet, according to Fox News and the New York Post reports from his opening statement, Walker attempted to deny that President Biden was currently involved in Hunter’s dealings.

Explaining some of Walker’s responses while testifying, the source noted that “Rob Walker’s excuses are inconsistent and contradictory.”

Walker, for example, tried to explain that when he met with CEFC officials, Joe Biden was simply reaching out to his son. Hunter referred to Joe Biden in text messages with the Chinese, allegedly because he was under the influence of drugs. Other text messages mentioning Joe Biden, including from Walker and Gilliar, were also downplayed.

In addition to Comer’s statement, the Commission shared observations on its X account. Tagging the House Judiciary Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee, which played key roles in the investigation of Hunter and the Biden crime family, the post concluded by stating that “will continue to follow the facts to inform the impeachment inquiry and legislative solutions,” and announced the release of the full transcript to appear “soon.”

Hunter Biden himself is scheduled to testify on February 28, after his lawyer Abbe Lowell and Comer and Jordan reached an agreement.
