Trump is not a conservative, but neither is he… Chris Christie

Donald Trump doesn’t have the most conservative track record. His opponents in the GOP presidential field and in parts of the so-called “conservative media” are trying to discredit Trump in this respect.

But they are dishonest because none of them are their favorite candidates, all the “conservative” ones.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is a classic example.

Christie didn’t admit this until about 20 years ago, when he heard his daughter’s heartbeat while she was still in her mother’s womb. was “pro-choice”. He even gave to Planned Parenthood. Now Christie describes herself as “pro-life.” However, he believes in it until 20vol week of pregnancyabortion should still be allowed.

And of course, no different than most other Republicans (Marco Rubio Is is a notable exception), Christie maintains that abortion is morally permissible in cases of rape, incest, and when the pregnancy threatens the life of the mother.

In other words, Christie is still pro-choice.

To see this, consider his position on abortion in featherlight of the analogy with the death penalty. A person who claimed to be against the death penalty, yet only supported it in the case of, say, murderers, rapists and attempted murders, would be immediately recognized as self-deceiving, misleading, hypocritical, or any combination thereof.

Similarly, you cannot claim to be opposed to abortion – the killing of innocent, defenseless human life – while claiming to support it if the person is of a certain age (under 20 weeks), was conceived in such and such circumstances, etc. .

To his credit, Christie, as governor, actually cut funding to Planned Parenthood on five separate occasions. Still, we should remember that until he threw his hat into the presidential ring and began appealing to conservative-minded audiences, Christie always insisted that the cuts were solely due to the fact that the money “It would deplete the state fiscal resources…and significantly change New Jersey’s policy and spending priorities.

Like Ohio Gov. John Kasich (and many other Republicans), Christie insists he opposes “gay marriage,” but now that the Supreme Court has recognized it as a constitutional right, Christie regards it as an irrelevant, right of the land. The Pulse assesses the response of Republican Party candidates to this unprecedented ruling: Christie received an F grade.

And in 2013, when a Jersey court legalized “gay marriage”, Christie he refused to question it on behalf of his country.

It’s demanding not to think that Christie really was like that morally unlike “gay marriage”, he would be as willing to defer to a government that ruled on the issue as an abolitionist would be willing to defer to the government’s position on slavery.

In 2014, Christie signed a bill making this possible prevent employers from conducting investigation into the criminal history of potential employees. The governor now boasts that he has “ended” “employment discrimination against people with criminal records.” Only after the candidate has completed the first job interview will the employer be able to conduct a background check.

“This will make a huge difference for people who have paid their debts to society and want to start their lives anew,” Christie said.

In 2013, Christie brought Common Core the one from New Jersey. “We’re doing Common Core in New Jersey and we intend to continue.” Lest there be any misunderstanding about his sympathies, he added: “And this is one of those areas where I agreed with the President more than not.”

As Common Core rightly earned its now infamous reputation, Christie began to disengage from it, and as he entered his presidential campaign, he expressed “regret” for supporting it. In February, he expressed “serious concerns about the way this is being done, and particularly the way the Obama administration has tried to implement this by tying federal funding to these issues.”

This remark is telling for more than one reason:

First, Christie cites the same reason for the Common Core disaster that communists cite as the cause of the fall of communism around the world. The problem is not the program itself, but its operation implementation.

Second, it’s amazing that anyone, let alone a politician, could do this NO they predicted that there would be enormous problems in imposing a federal program, any federal program, but especially a locally imposed educational program.

Third, did Christie really not expect that President Obama would not tie the strings of “federal funds” to… federal program?

Christie boasted that he had presided over the largest amount of aid— $8.9 billion—to New Jersey public schools throughout the state’s history. When you consider that a good portion of that amount comes from the federal government, it’s clear that Christie has no interest in reducing the size of either the federal or state government.

Christie too Expanded Medicaid under Obamacare.

And when it comes to the NSA’s mass surveillance of American citizens’ data, Christie characterizes the objections as constituting a “strain of libertarianism” and accuses “libertarians” of engaging in “esoteric, intellectual debates

It also supports the federal government’s search to see which ones books from the library Americans check under the Patriot Act.

Christie, although he claims to be against amnesty (who doesn’t say that so much?), is in favor of “comprehensive immigration reform”, i.e. amnesty. He also granted illegal immigrants in New Jersey the right to pursue a college education for a fee state tuition rates!

Trump may not be a conservative.

But Chris Christie is definitely not a conservative.
