Sometimes the numbers speak for themselves. In fiscal year 2020, U.S. officials recorded just half a million undocumented migrants at the border. That same year, more than 185,000 illegal immigrants were expelled from the United States. At the beginning of fiscal year 2021, Joe Biden became president, and his administration began to radically change immigration policy and rhetoric. Illegal immigrants got the message thunderous and clear.
Results:
NEW: Preliminary ICE data shows a huge decline in deportations in FY21 compared to previous years, despite significantly higher encounter volumes.
Year 21: 55,590 deportations
1.7 million meetingsYear 20: 185,884 deportations
458,000 meetingsYear 19: 267,258 deportations
977,000 meetings— Bill Melugin (@BillFOXLA) February 10, 2022
Encounters have more than tripled and deportations have dropped by more than two-thirds – not proportionately, mind you. Raw numbers. The White House may object to calling it “open borders,” but at this point there’s no denying the practical effects of this ineffective policy. In fact, on some level it is complex to perceive what is happening as anything other than intended. I had Melugin on my radio show yesterday and pointed out that the numbers are actually worse than they appear for Team Biden because a disproportionate number of FY21 deportations occurred in the waning days of the Trump administration. Under Biden, the decline in enforcement has been even steeper than it appears. The current panel on this issue has decided that entire categories of illegal immigrants who have also been convicted of additional crimes are not deportable. The result is institutionalized lawlessness and encouragement to break the law such headlines: :
Deported twice A Mexican national with a 15-year criminal record was arrested for allegedly drawing swastikas at Union Station in Washington, D.C., but reportedly will not face deportation under the Biden administration’s standards for detention or removal. “The criminal who desecrated Union Station with anti-Semitic symbols, Geraldo Pando, should not have been allowed to commit this act of hatred. He is a convicted felon and undocumented migrant with a criminal history of deportations and arrests, including assault on the first respondent,” said Senator Rob Portman, Republican of Ohio Washington Examiner… Pando, 34, yes 15-year criminal history, including a 35-page criminal history in Colorado for crimes ranging from drug possession to misdemeanor theft. He was arrested by police in early January for destroying the US Capitol Police headquarters– a senior Senate adviser told the Washington Examiner. However, he was released because ICE did not request that he be held until he was in federal custody.
Of course, some criminal illegal immigrants are kicked out of the country and then immediately returned. Some of them get caught: :

NEW: On Monday alone, Border Patrol in the Rio Grande Valley arrested three MS-13 gang members and an El Salvador man previously convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child in New Jersey. Agents arrested an 18th Street gang member on Tuesday. @FoxNews @USBPCiefRGV

Others who belong to estimated over 400,000 “escapes” at the border last year, no. How is all this acceptable? According to Melugin, there are signs that the crisis is deepening again:
The Del Rio sector continues to see tremendous activity. Since October 1, the number of their meetings has increased by over 215% compared to the same period last year.
Two 5-year-old girls from Guatemala and Honduras also arrived this week. One completely alone, the other with three other children. https://t.co/1yrwNRlUsZ— Bill Melugin (@BillFOXLA) February 10, 2022
I’ll leave you with this our entire interview. Be sure to check out Melugin’s statistic on the administration’s supposed restoration of its successful “Remain in Mexico” policy:
“We are seeing a huge, huge, huge increase in migrant encounters at the border and a huge decline in law enforcement and deportations from the country.”
