The biggest news was this president Jose Biden visited Zelensky in Ukraine.
Although much of the media avoided the question of why he would go to a foreign country instead of the East Palestine disaster site in Ohio, many people were busy highlighting the importance of the visit. It was historic, you know. How much? Well, many media outlets managed to put Biden’s ramblings on the war-torn country into proper perspective.
- MSNBC – “It’s like when JFK went to Berlin in 1963.
- Guardian – “John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan gave speeches in Berlin. “Joe Biden now has Kiev and the moment to define his presidency and its era.”
- EVERYDAY BEAST – “Kennedy and then Reagan in Berlin. Now Biden in Kiev.”
- JERUSALEM POST OFFICE – “Woodrow Wilson would have liked this, as well as FDR and JFK. Each presented a vision of the United States as the weaponizer of democracy.”
- CNN – “Biden going there today, it will be a moment for the history books. It’s like when JFK went to Berlin in 1961.
Brinkley on Biden’s photo in Kiev: “Extremely significant… Zelensky has been called the Churchill of our generation, and Biden going there today, it will be a moment that will go down in the history books. It’s like when JFK went to Berlin in 1961. ..Biden did something truly heroic.” pic.twitter.com/1pYUBGI50z

Pre-written field reports – USA TODAY
In case you missed it over the weekend, Tiger Woods had to apologize during his press conference after the final round – the reason is absurd, but no more so than the reactions that demanded the apology.
Tiger teamed up with his good friend Justin Thomas during the games. On one hole, Woods drove further off the tee than Thomas, then slyly walked up to his friend and slipped something into his hand. Since this is Tiger, of course his every action is basically watched by the crowd and cameras, so a forensic examination of this exchange was conducted. Woods was found to have done what virtually all men do on the golf course – brag and put down your friends when the opportunity arises. He did this by slipping the tampon into his friend’s hand.
When this was realized, there was selective outrage from many people, including Christine Brennan of USA Today Sports. A sports columnist wrote a long rant about this pioneering move that can be seen every day on almost every golf course:
I suspect that most of the millions of fathers and mothers who support their athletic daughters are probably playing pranks on retirees designed to humiliate the girls they love. But not our Tiger. he used sheer misogyny to insult his good friend Thomas.”
Does hearing about Tiger’s tampon trick mean that a youthful athlete graduating from college won’t try playing golf? This notion may be a bit extreme, but let’s put it this way: when the biggest name in the history of the sport spreads misogyny on the fairway at a dizzying rate, it may only confirm a woman’s suspicions about golf and send her to any of the many golf clubs. other sports he can do for the rest of his life without running into a guy making a juvenile joke about tampons.
There’s no way this was some explosive social violation. No one else – and I mean no one – could honestly be offended by this move by Woods unless they actively try to generate outrage. Evidence? If no one heard about what he did, no one other than Justin Thomas would be affected by it one bit. Only after viewing the visual materials can anyone adopt an offensive attitude.
And if Brennan was truly concerned that his actions might drive the youthful golfer away from the sport, the last thing she would want to do is spread what he did. All this is empty posturing for woke praise and nothing more.
Right, Tiger? Are you a 47-year-old “girl dad” who still makes juvenile and sexist tampon jokes like an immature schoolboy? My @usatodaysports column: https://t.co/s6Pk6vTLn3

News Avoidance Disorder – DIFFERENT OUTPUTS
- When a female golfer engaged in a similar dose of sexism, it didn’t cause any outrage.
In 2005 it was clearly a different, more bearable era. That same year, during the co-ed skin competition, Annika Sorenstam teamed up with Fred Funk. On one hole, both players started competing, and the LPGA champion passed Funk. He immediately went to the course officials to obtain a ruling. His lobbying efforts consisted of claiming that even when he pushed the ball further, it stopped beyond his spot in the fairway. His argument; due to positioning, his ball was technically closer to the pin than hers. However, this was not a case where the minuscule male was unable to accept the outcome. It turned out that Funk and Sorenstam had placed a bet, and the official ruling was that it was a matter of who would fall farther off the tee, so Annika rightfully beat Funk.
Result? Sorenstam gave the PGA professional a knee-length floral skirt that he had to wear while playing in front of a packed gallery. Significantly, this insult between duffers was not followed by an outpouring of opinion from journalists or outrage on social media.
For all those who lost their minds because of Tiger’s tampon-gate. Come out of your coma and remember this. And then STFU. Everyone laughed then, as they should now.https://t.co/wSETh4DH3L

First Amendment Strike Forces – ASSOCIATED PRESS
There have been some pretty overwhelming negative reactions to the news of a British publishing house deciding to comb through the collective works of author Roald Dahl and replace any questionable passages with more sanitized, contemporary, woke expressions. The Associated Press is covering this disturbing whitewashing of literature in detail, but can’t seem to bring itself to describe exactly what’s taking place. The “critics” seem to be calling this censorship, but the AP has to resort to euphemism: “we have removed colorful language from the works… to make them more acceptable to modern readers.”
Critics are accusing British publisher of classic children’s books Roald Dahl of censorship after he removed colorful language from works such as “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and “Matilda” to make them more acceptable to current readers. https://t.co/2NCyXhh09y

Craft narratives – NBC NEWS
Nikki Haley’s announced campaign continues to force the press to work overtime to diminish the chances of a conservative POC woman. This time it’s NBC News, warning America to oppose Haley running away from people of her own ethnic group.
The website reports that Indian-Americans are not happy with her candidacy for the highest office. Referring to the proven method of quoting “experts”, the article referred to the words of the Asian American and Pacific Islander Victory Alliance. I don’t want to suggest that this is a slightly skewed group of activists – but the members of the AAPI advisory board are names of the former Obama administration.
Even more tellingly, there is a noticeable lack of “experts” interviewed for this article who support Haley.
I wrote about Nikki Haley, her run for president, and why her appeal to the immigrant narrative isn’t working for many South Asianshttps://t.co/mGcT9NaJRt

Low octane gas lighting – CNN
- Forgive us for demanding a slightly more authoritative voice on true conservatism.
Pick this: Which source is the least reliable on whether Ron DeSantis is truly a conservative leader?
-CNN
-Larry Hogan
A trick question, of course. ATTENTION.
Here’s the report CNN has been airing all day – DeSantis is not a REAL conservative, but rather a big government Republican.
Their proof? Larry Hogan, “conservative donors” and “organizations” told them so.
This is a purely made-up narrative to help Trump. pic.twitter.com/rTOLlO8nJl
