Katie wrote yesterday that Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg could squeeze some time in for him tight schedule* visit East Palestine, Ohio, site of a recent train derailment that is an environmental disaster. Water bodies in the immediate area are contaminated, and toxic plumes rising from the disaster site are affecting local wildlife and farm life. Dozens of fish and chickens died. The Federal Emergency Management Agency agreed to distribute federal aid after two weeks, but only after former President Donald Trump announced he would visit beleaguered residents. Earlier, however, Biden rejected approving federal disaster aid.
Aid would be provided immediately if it were in a blue state, but East Palestine is overwhelmingly white, Republican, and largely a MAGA country. The left didn’t care about this disaster; the same goes for the liberal media: they want these people to die. But Petey should have been there around the time the Environmental Protection Agency decided to drop by. Pete isn’t working and decides to take what appears to be lasting paternity leave. He sat and did nothing as a supply chain crisis gripped the nation. He caused the airline industry to crash and burn over the holidays. Southwest Airlines was the epicenter of a sprawling flight cancellation disaster due to shoddy software that the government had known about for months.
Instead of addressing the train wreck, Buttigieg criticizes construction for being too white. Like Biden, Pete has failed to solve every crisis under his influence. In every anticipatory crisis, Pete sits and does nothing.
I asked Secretary Buttigieg about the crisis in East Palestine and he didn’t seem to like it, so he took a picture of me. I’m just doing my job, sir. @DailyCaller pic.twitter.com/HjKNgF25FJ

Reporter: What do you have to say to the Ohioans in East Palestine who are suffering right now?
Mayor Pete: I’m taking some time for myself right now

When the Daily Caller’s Jennie Taer asked if he had anything to say to the people of East Palestine, Pete basically replied that she couldn’t interrupt him because it was taking up his “personal time.” It’s a cringeworthy clip that shows that Pete, despite his career in public life, has a lot of work to do in terms of media training. This man does nothing for the country. Did this guy admit he’s not in Ohio because he’s too busy not working?
