The Biden administration has been on a wild ride this week, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to get out of it anytime soon.
They can run, but they can’t hide the fact that the government is treating President Joe Biden very differently than former President Trump.
A third batch of secret documents was found in Biden’s possession, with some of them marked “top secret,” the highest classification.
Many compare Biden’s defeat to Trump’s, but the FBI broke into his Mar-a-Lago mansion while Biden’s team held the documents for several weeks before making the discovery public.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) highlights “hypocrisy” in the federal government.
In an interview with Fox News, McCarthy pointed to differences between how the Justice Department and the FBI handled Biden’s classified documents compared to Trump’s, saying it only deepens the fact that Americans no longer trust the government.
“I’m concerned about the way justice is being administered,” McCarthy said. “Why are you attacking President Trump? His was not only locked, but also padlocked. They knew he was there. They could have taken him whenever they wanted.”
McCarthy pointed out how many agents and special advisers were involved in discovering Biden’s documents compared to Trump’s.
“It’s just hypocrisy,” McCarthy said, adding: “I’m fed up with this Department of Justice… using it to prosecute people for different political beliefs. That’s what’s wrong with government.”
Meanwhile, Republican Jim Jordan (R-OH) condemned the Biden administration’s “lack of transparency” after another set of confidential documents was found.
“They may claim to be transparent about this, but that’s a completely different story,” Jordan said, condemning the administration for keeping the discovery from the public until the November midterm elections.
Jordan said his goal as chairman of the House Judiciary Committee is to eliminate double standards within the department.
This came after the House voted to create a subcommittee within the House Judiciary Committee to investigate the “weaponization” of the Justice Department, which then led to the discovery of the Biden documents.
“2020, they are suppressing the Hunter Biden story. 2022, they attack [Trump’s] home 91 days before the election, but they don’t tell us about the problem with Joe Biden’s secret documents that they knew about before the election [2022 midterm] elections,” Jordan said, expressing frustration.
Jordan provided another example of double standards in the government, comparing the treatment of rioters on January 6 to the situation during the George Floyd protests in 2020.
“These are things that we will investigate in this select committee and make sure that the truth is revealed to the American people,” the Ohio representative said, adding that the first step is “to expose it.”
