A new book on Trump’s failed impeachment addresses when the House GOP knew Schiff was up to something

This was the second act. That’s all. The Ukraine fiasco that gripped the nation, leading to the politically motivated impeachment that was ultimately done to satisfy the Democratic base’s desire to impeach Trump, was just another battle in the Russian collusion wars. They failed to convince Trump of this ridiculous myth. This avenue has been exhausted, so what to do now? Democrats control the House. The elections are approaching. They just had to get this guy by any means necessary. So here comes a whistleblower complaint filed by a CIA agent who is a registered Democrat and worked for the 2020 Democratic candidate, along with a story involving an allegation of quid pro quo regarding the United States sending aid to Ukraine. To recap, the allegation is that Trump threatened to withhold aid unless the Ukrainians looked into the quagmire of a deal by Hunter Biden, Joe Biden’s son, who sits on the board of Burisma, a shady energy company where he reportedly made $50,000 a month selling access to top U.S. officials. At the time, it would have been Obama’s people.

House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff knew the whistleblower’s identity. He had to meet him. His staff certainly did; Schiff reviewed a copy of the complaint before it was formally filed, which allowed him to prepare the elements for impeachment. Oh, and this so-called whistleblower didn’t hear the accusation directly. These are all second-hand sources. I mean, the allegation was nonsense and quickly degenerated, like Russian collusion, into a total baseless circus. It has gotten to the point where some Democrats have said Trump should be impeached even if there is no quid pro quo on Ukrainian aid. It was an unnecessary political spectacle, but inevitable in the face of the Trump disorder syndrome that Democrats have taken over the Capitol.

In his new book, “Obsession: Inside the Washington establishment’s Never-Ending War on Trump,” Byron York notes that House Republicans were caught off guard by Schiff’s plots against the president. They thought it wouldn’t be a substantial deal, a gross miscalculation.

On September 17, 2019, a meeting at the Sensitive Information Center informed House Republicans that Schiff was up to something, mentioning his earlier press release and speaking rather deviously about this complaint.

York quoted Rep. Devin Nunes (Calif.), ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, who said: “At that point, we had no idea what the hell was going on. Schiff has certainly shown that he knows more about this topic.

“It was completely weird,” Nunes said. “Because he knew too many details.”

Utah State Representative Chis Stewart said: “He was so, I don’t want to say dizzy – he was so impatient that we all noticed… We knew something was up. Schiff did not face the situation at all.”

Republican Brad Wenstrup of Ohio was quoted as saying he was somewhat surprised by the massive attack on Trump after the collapse of the Russian collusion illusion.

“I thought with Mueller, can we just get on with business,” the congressman said. “But I had no idea they were going to continue a full-fledged attack because if I was Adam Schiff, after what he did for two years, I would be very embarrassed to be wrong.”

Yeah, well that embarrassment didn’t stop them. The impeachment push has failed, which has likely distracted us from the looming Covid-19 epidemic in the US. It revealed that the left will do almost nothing to find something and utilize it against Trump. This fight also revealed that Mitt Romney, who voted with Democrats in one article, is currently the most worthless Republican in Congress.

Other than that, you just go I need to read Byron’s book.
