It is unbelievable that someone who is not a US citizen could vote in any election at any level. However, five states and one jurisdiction already allow it at some level: California, Illinois, Maryland, New York and Vermont, as well as Washington. Do you see any common denominator? They are all breeding grounds for leftist rhetoric.
It is not universally protected by any stretching
Only four states in the union made voting only available to citizens, including Utah, Wyoming, Minnesota and Pennsylvania. Another seven states – Arizona, Colorado, North Dakota, Ohio, Alabama, Louisiana and Florida – introduced amendments that, fortunately, recently passed for a vote only by citizens.
And now the disgusting reality: 34 other states are what OnlyCitizensVote.com calls “up for grabs.” In other words, any other country in the EU could potentially allow non-citizens to vote in the near or distant future.
Let’s assess what voting without citizenship actually means for US citizens. Let’s assume you live here all your life. You pay taxes. Your children are school age. You voted in previous elections at the local, state and national levels. You respect the laws of our nation. You have never been arrested or even charged with a crime.
Suddenly, people in your city, and maybe even in your neighborhood, who arrived here a week ago or however long it took, can vote even though they don’t have the right to do so. They did not apply legal routes to obtain citizenship. Some may be waiting for a work permit. Some may have pending lawsuits; The process of applying for citizenship can be long and arduous. Most have simply broken down our boundaries.
What is it about?
When a non-U.S. citizen can vote at any level, local, state or national, this action threatens what it means to be a U.S. citizen. Indeed, if a non-US citizen can vote, what is the point of being a US citizen? Why should we pay taxes? Why should we follow the laws of this country?
Voting without citizenship is the quintessential leftist pipe dream. If others can skip essential steps and obtain rights and privileges previously reserved to U.S. citizens, this phenomenon diminishes everyone’s citizenship.
For example, in my state of North Carolina, Democrats have lost a huge number of voters over the last few years to independent status or, in some cases, Republican status.
For Democrats to win the governorship or elect legislators and all other officials, they must replace a huge number of lost voters. The same math essentially applies to our national elections.
Giant jump backwards
It’s not a massive leap to understand why Biden and company applaud the fact that six to nine million people are crashing down our gates and look forward to another four million before the 2024 election.
Biden, Harris, Mayorkas and the usual bunch of Marxists can protest to the death that they are doing everything in their power to maintain control of the border. In fact, they encourage and approve of the invasion. Why not? This may be one of the few things keeping the Democratic Party alive in select states.
Democrats will make the case for non-citizens voting that sounds good, but ultimately the rationale is penniless. They will say that some of these non-citizen voters pay taxes. Or they do responsible work. Or driving a motor vehicle. How nice, and if they are not citizens, they should not be allowed to vote.
Citizenship is not a right for those who simply live here. It is a privilege and a legal structure. Being a citizen of the United States means something. It is not a title freely given at the discretion of one political party, nor is it the right to vote at the discretion of one political party.
Being American
From our founding to the present, many millions of patriots have fought and died to preserve our freedoms, to uphold what it means to be an American and to have American citizenship.
Anything that denigrates the efforts of so many people over so many years is an insult to us all.
