President-elect Donald Trump has announced leadership nominations for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), two agencies that will be the main pillars of his ambitious immigration agenda.
On Thursday evening, in a series of social media posts, the president-elect announced the nominations of Caleb Vitello (pictured above, left) to head ICE and Rodney Scott (pictured above, right) to head CBP. Both men have worked for their agencies for years – Vitello currently serves as deputy director of the agency’s Office of Firearms and Tactical Programs, and Scott previously served as chief of Border Patrol in both the first Trump and Biden administrations.
“Caleb’s exceptional leadership, extensive experience and commitment to the ICE mission make him an excellent choice to implement my efforts to improve the safety of American communities that have been victims of illegal alien-related crime.” – Trump published on Social truth.
“Rodney served with the Border Patrol for almost thirty years, gaining extensive experience and knowledge in law enforcement and border security. “Rodney served as the 24th chief of the U.S. Border Patrol, where he implemented Title 42 ‘Remain in Mexico, the Safe Third Agreement and achieved record low levels of illegal immigration.” – Trump said Fr Scott’s origins.
Scott previously spoke with the Daily Caller News Foundation blow the whistle how the Biden administration has allegedly gone to great lengths to hide mass illegal immigration from the American public.
The two choices to lead ICE and CBP largely sum up the president-elect’s nominations for what will be the centerpiece of his political issue: immigration enforcement.
Trump, who already during his first term became known as a steadfast specialist in the fight against illegal immigration, stated: set of campaign promises over the past year, such as completing the U.S.-Mexico border wall, reviving the “Remain in Mexico” program, restoring the travel ban and hiring more Border Patrol agents. During the campaign, the president-elect also made a number of more groundbreaking promises, such as a vow to carry out “the largest deportation program in American history” and a plan end citizenship by birth for persons born on U.S. soil to illegal immigrant parents.
To lead this effort, the GOP tapped former acting ICE director Tom Homan to be its border czar. The position will not require Senate confirmation, but will give him broad oversight of the Trump administration’s law enforcement strategy. Longtime adviser and immigration hardliner Stephen Miller will be deputy chief of staff for policy.
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem was touched lead the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees not only ICE and CBP but also U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and other agencies critical to Trump’s law enforcement agenda.
